Official HYROX Training Club in Orange County

All of our coaches are certified for programming, movement standards, class tutorials, and daily training tools built by HYROX itself.

We incorporate HYROX-specific training three times a week. Every session focuses on training all energy systems, practicing race-day movement patterns, and building the running endurance you need between stations.

This isn't generic group fitness with a HYROX label on it. It's structured, coach-led, and race-ready.

Coach Adan Martinez

Adán didn't stumble into HYROX coaching. He built toward it over 15 years. A former collegiate Cross Country and Track & Field athlete, he studied Kinesiology with a specialization in Exercise Physiology and Sport Science at Concordia University Irvine - the same foundation that now drives every HYROX program he writes.

He holds an ACE Personal Trainer certification and is a California Certified Massage Therapist, which gives him a rare combination of programming knowledge and hands-on understanding of how the body breaks down under race-day stress. Before founding Primitive Movement x Swole AF, he spent five years working in physical rehabilitation - learning exactly how to build athletes back up, not just push them harder.

Adán is the one who secured the gym's Official HYROX Training Club status and built the race-specific programming from the ground up. He coaches alongside Daniel on the floor, programs the weekly HYROX sessions, and brings the endurance background that keeps the running component as sharp as the station work. When your HYROX coach was a competitive distance runner before he was a strength coach, your 1K laps get the attention they deserve.

Coach Daniel Baek

Daniel isn't just coaching HYROX - he's racing it. He competed at HYROX Pro Division: Las Vegas, NV 2026 (1:18:56) doubles w/Adan Martinez (1:05:31) , Phoenix, AZ 2026 (1:18:27), Incheon, South Korea 2026 (1:10:12) and currently training for upcoming events. He knows what race day feels like, what breaks down at station six, and exactly where most first-timers leave time on the course.

As the dedicated HYROX specialist at Primitive Movement x Swole AF, Daniel leads race-specific training five times a week. Every session is programmed to build the combination of running endurance and station efficiency that HYROX demands.

He coaches athletes through all eight competition stations, breaks down movement standards, and builds pacing strategies based on where you are and what race you're targeting.

Whether you're training for your first HYROX or trying to cut minutes off your finish time, Daniel builds your program around the specific stations and energy systems that need the most work. He's raced. He coaches daily. And he's building a crew of HYROX athletes right here in Orange County.

What is HYROX?

HYROX is the world's largest mass-participation fitness race. Every event follows the exact same format, anywhere in the world: eight 1-kilometer runs, each followed by a functional workout station. You run a kilometer, hit a station, run another kilometer, hit the next station - eight times through until you cross the finish line. Total distance: 8 kilometers of running plus eight full workout stations.

The eight stations, in race order:

SkiErg (1,000m)

Sled Push (50m)

Sled Pull (50m)

Burpee Broad Jumps (80m)

Rowing (1,000m)

Farmer's Carry (200m)

Sandbag Lunges (100m)

Wall Balls (75/100 reps)

What makes HYROX different from obstacle course races like Spartan or Tough Mudder is that there's nothing unpredictable. No monkey bars, no ice baths, no surprises. Every race is the same format with the same standards, which means your finish time is directly comparable to every other HYROX athlete on the planet. You can race solo, as a doubles pair, or as a four-person relay team.

The catch is that HYROX punishes you in the places most people don't train. The running isn't a jog - it's eight separate 1K efforts with your heart rate already elevated from the station you just finished. The sled push feels fine at station two and devastating at station six. The wall balls at station eight are designed to break you when you're already empty. This is why generic gym training doesn't prepare you for HYROX and why race-specific coaching matters.

That's exactly what we built our program around. As an Official HYROX Training Club, we train every station, every transition, and every energy system the race demands - so nothing on race day surprises you.
